Welcome

Newton Abbot Photographic Club was established over seventy years ago and currently has over 60 members from Newton Abbot and the surrounding area of South Devon.

We are keen to welcome new members, whether you are an experienced photographer or a complete beginner.

Join us for photography, fun, and fellowship, while we learn to make the best pictures we can. You are welcome to attend two meetings as a guest before deciding to join.

WEEKLY MEETINGS ARE HELD ON TUESDAYS AT 7:30PM AT THE COURTENAY CENTRE, KINGSTEIGNTON ROAD, NEWTON ABBOT from early September through to the end of April.

NEWTON ABBOT PHOTOGRAPHIC CLUB RULES

 

(Incorporating amendments from AGMs April 2001 and 2003, August 2005, April 2008, and April2012

 

 

  1. The Society shall be called the Newton Abbot Photographic Club (hereafter called “The Club”).

 

  1. Membership of the Club implies the undertaking to comply with and abide by these Rules.

 

  1. The Annual Subscription shall be fixed at an Annual General Meeting and shall be payable in advance of the first meeting of the Winter Session.

 

  1. The Officers shall consist of a Chairman, Vice Chairman, Hon Secretary and Hon. Treasurer.

 

  1. The affairs of the Club shall be managed by a Committee consisting of the Officers and six members. .

The President shall also be a Committee member ex officio.

The Committee may, at its discretion, co-op not more than three additional members.

Five Committee Members shall form a quorum.

 

  1. Candidates for membership of the Club shall complete an application for membership and data form. Membership shall be open to all interested in photography, subject to the approval of the Committee.

 

  1. Special General Meetings of the Club may be convened by the Committee, or on a requisition signed by at least 10 ordinary members, stating the object, and sent to the Secretary at least 14 days before the date proposed.

 

  1. The Annual General Meeting shall be held in the month of April, at which the President, the Officers and Committee shall be elected to serve for the ensuing year commencing on 1st May.

No person shall be elected President, Officer or Committee Member unless the proposer has the agreement of the nominee to stand.

Ten members shall form a quorum.

The President shall not be eligible to serve for more than 3 years consecutively, and the Chairman not more than 3 years consecutively.

Nominations for election shall be in the hands of the Secretary at least 24 hours before the meeting.

             The Treasurer shall present a balance sheet for the year ending 31st March immediately preceeding, audited by an              Hon. Auditor selected at the previous AGM from the ordinary members.

 

  1. A member may be expelled or asked to resign from the Club at the decision of the Committee. The Committee may request a member to appear before it, provided that, where any accusation or charge is made the member shall be given full and reasonable opportunity to put forward a defence and bring witnesses to a later meeting. Any member expelled or asked to resign shall have the right of appeal to a Special General Meeting called for the purpose. All Committee proceedings and those of any Special General Meeting called for under this Rule shall be treated as privileged and confidential.

 

  1. A new member may be elected to the Committee, but must have been a Club Member for 2 years before being able to become an Officer of the Club.

 

  1. The name of any member whose subscription is more than 3 months in arrears may be removed from the list by order of the Committee. A member not in arrears of subscription may resign at any time by notifying the Secretary of a desire to do so.

 

  1. Members and others attending meetings, outings and functions, etc. do so at their own risk and the Club accepts no responsibility for accidents, theft, loss or damage to persons or property.

 

  1. No alteration of, or addition to, these Rules shall be made except at the Annual General Meeting or a Special General Meeting called in accordance with Rule 7. At least 7 days notice shall be given to all members of any such proposed Amendment to the Rules.
