The Art of Collaboration exhibition at TAAG in Teignmouth

is now well under way and is being well recieved by all the visitors

No automatic alt text available.Image may contain: 1 person, indoor

It is open 10am to 5.00pm each day, last day willl be 16 November.

Still plenty of time to visit.  Don't miss it!!

The Art of Collaboration

From November 3rd to the 16th you can visit the TAAG art gallery , Teignmouth , to see a very unique exhibition. Two years in the development this is a collaboration between four different local groups, Newton Abbot Photographic Club, Newton Abbot Art Group, Chudleigh Writers’ Circle and the Newton Abbot and District Writers’ Circle.

It started with the photographers giving the writers 20 prints in sealed plain envelopes. These were distributed to the writers who first saw the prints as they drew them out of the envelope. Some were delighted and immediately saw the potential, some took time to decide what to do and some were flummoxed but eventually rose to the occasion and produced exciting work.

The next stage was for the written work to go into plain envelopes and the photos given back to the photographers  . The written work was passed to the artists where again the process of taking out the written page was performed with some trepidation! The artists did not have the photos to look at, they had to interpret only the written work. That was the whole essence of the project, how we interpret other stimuli. The writers interpreting the photos, the artists interpreting the written work.

It was with some excitement when we all met up one evening to view all the work together for the first time. Each pair of  photograph and painting were put on an easel together and the writer read their piece. It was a fascinating and inspirational experience for all involved. Seeing the link between them was captivating, some photos and paintings were nearly duplicates, some were rather obscure. But, in every case , there was a recognisable link between all three art forms.

See for yourself at the TAAG gallery in Teignmouth from November 3rd to the 16th , you won’t be disappointed.
