NAPC Programme 2023 - 24

September 2023 

5th         Welcome to the new season. Your committee will entertain you 

12th       SPEAKER   Stephen Reynolds  ARPS, EFIAP/p, EPSA, FIPF   Stephen will be showing his Trip to  Bangladesh and Dart Tarot prints. 19th       Monthly Challenge  These evenings are themed and link in with the themes for the Master Photographer competition at the end of the year. This month’s theme is WATER 

26th       COMPETITION  Round 1 of the monthly competitions to find the photographer of the year. This round is for PDIs and is judged by Richard Curzon from Kingsbridge.

October 2023 

3rd         PDI Challenge Shield  This is a competition between us, Ivybridge and District, Kingsbridge and Plymouth.  Each Club supplies a judge (ours is Chris Marsham).  This year it is being hosted by Ivybridge and District. The venue is Bittaford Village Hall, Bittaford, Ivybridge PL21 0DX Hall. THERE WILL BE NO MEETING AT THE COURTENEY CENTRE THIS NIGHT.

10th       SPEAKER   Robert Harvey  BA ARPS EFIAP CENV CSCI MCIWEM  Have a look at Robert’s website,  , you will see why he is in such demand. Title and description of lecture: By The SeaOur coast is the spectacular wild edge of Britain. Fulfilling the tremendous photographic potential of beaches, cliffs, sea stacks, lighthouses, castles and storms requires effective use of seasonal light and tides. 17th       Monthly Challenge   These evenings are themed and link in with the themes for the Master Photographer competition at the end of the year. This month’s theme is LONG EXPOSURE

24th       COMPETITION  Round 2 of the monthly competitions to find the photographer of the year. This round is for Prints and is judged by John Tilsley from Dorchester

31st       SPEAKER   Gordon Aspland:    ICM – Intentional Camera Movement. Fine art, or a blurry mess?

 

November 2023

7th         SPEAKER   Rob Hutchinson  Rob is our local Dartmoor photographer who produces lovely images, see his website. His talk is on the Four Seasons of Dartmoor.

14th       WCPF Prints  A chance to see the best from the WCPF print exhibition. Can you pick a winner?  Deadline for PDI entries for round 3 of the monthly open competitions , see Handbook for rules.

21st       Monthly Challenge   These evenings are themed and link in with the themes for the Master Photographer competition at the end of the year. This month’s theme is TRANSPORT 

28th       COMPETITION  Round 3 of the monthly competitions to find the photographer of the year. This round is for PDIs  and is judged by  John Baker from Exeter. 

 

December 2023

5th         SPEAKER   Cindy Goeddel.  This will be a ZOOM presentation all the way from AmericaCindy’s Fine Art Landscapes and Natural History photography are just sensational. Look at her website.

12th       Members’ Projects  A chance for some of our own members to show what they have been up to in the last year.

19th       Christmas Social  including our popular Triptych display. Enjoy the food and chat; admire, appreciate and comment on the triptychs on display!

 

January 2024

2nd        SPEAKER  Chris Marsham    His talk is called COLD – Images of the Polar Regions

9th         Monthly Challenge   These evenings are themed and link in with the themes for the Master Photographer competition at the end of the year. This month’s theme is  A DAY ON THE COAST.    ALSO – Deadline for Print entries for round 4 of the monthly open competitions, see Handbook for rules.

16th       SPEAKER    Marija Lees.    Marija is a fine judge who often visits us. This is a chance to see her work titled  People/Street Photography & Impressionist Photography

23rd       COMPETITION   Round 4 of the monthly competitions to find the photographer of the year. This round is for Prints  and is judged by Anna Stevenson from Plymouth.

30th       Great Photographers  Two or Three members will volunteer to research and give a presentation on their favourite photographers.

 

February 2024

6th         Open Evening  Details to follow

13th      A look at the work of Roland White. Roland was a long time member of the club who sadly died last July. He was a prolific worker with an eclectic interest in all aspects of photography. The family have given us a set of his prints to look at. Roland was also a member of the group Proteus and many of his prints will have his words on the back from previous Proteus presentations, a great insight into how and why he took his pictures.  Deadline for PDI entries for round 5 of the monthly open competitions , see Handbook for rules.

20th       SPEAKER  Andrew Cooper BSc (Hons)  Andrew is a renowned naturalist who has travelled the world with the BBC units. His talk is called : BBC Natural History – my wildlife (Photographic)

27th       COMPETITION   Round 5 of the monthly competitions to find the photographer of the year. This round is for PDIs and is judged by Wendy Allard from Camborne (by ZOOM ).

 

March 2024

5th         SPEAKER  Jo Bradford     We saw Jo in 2018 when she talked about her use of Smart phones. She has become a national celebrity with publishing several books and articles since then and it is great to get her back. www.greenislandstudios.co.uk   Expect the Unexpected: Adventures in Photography from Darkrooms to Smartphones

12th       President’s Evening  A chance for our president to show us the kind of photography he really enjoys. Deadline for entries for the Master Photographer Competition, see Handbook for rules.

19th      BATTLE   We host the PDI section of the South Devon Photographic League

26th       COMPETITION  Master Photographer judged by Ian Hosker from Sidmouth. Members enter 1 picture for each of the 4 themes of  Water, Transport, Long Exposure and A Day on the Coast .

 

April 2024

2nd       SPEAKER Molly Hollman   Molly has won many awards with her creative flower pictures and she will be demonstrating, by ZOOM, how she created them, just in time for Spring. Deadline for Images of the Year competition, see handbook for rules.

9th         AV Group  Alan’s AV group have been working hard on a new set of AVs, should be good.

16th       COMPETITION   Images of the year     A chance for members to choose the best PDI, Mono Print and Colour print from the work submitted during the year.

23rd       Locations Group  During the year members have been out and about, here is a chance to see where they went and what they got up to!

30th      AGM The time when all members can have their say about how the club is to be run and by whom.
